Merco operates a workflow platform that supports cross-border textile trade between suppliers, buyers and the compliance work that trade requires. They are not legal, customs, tax or investment advice, and they do not modify any obligation you owe to a customs authority, regulator or your counterparty.

Merco is a technology and workflow provider. To be clear about what Merco is and is not:

• Merco is not a party to the sale of goods between a buyer and a supplier, and does not buy, sell or take title to any goods.
• Merco is not an importer of record, exporter of record, customs broker, freight forwarder of record, or customs agent.
• Merco is not a bank or licensed financial institution. Escrow, payment and payout services are provided through third-party payment infrastructure (see the Terms).
• Where a regulatory filing is prepared on the platform — for example an EU Deforestation Regulation due diligence statement — it is prepared on the instruction of, and submitted by or on behalf of, the operator of record, who remains responsible for it.

Merco is not subject to authorisation or supervision under any profession-specific regime by reason of operating the platform. Where the supply of a specific service becomes regulated, the relevant licence, supervisory authority and professional rules will be stated here.

The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (ODR) between businesses and consumers, available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Merco is not obliged or willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration body, because the platform is provided for business use only.
